Costa Rica is located in Central America between Panama (to the South) and Nicaragua (to the North). Costa Rica has 2 coastlines, on the West – Pacific Ocean and on the East – Caribbean Sea. Costa Rica is tropical with 2 seasons, Dry season (December to April) and rainy season is May to November. Costa Rica has an abundance of wildlife due to its tropical climate and its rainforest. Costa Rica has a population of approximately five million.
Costa Rica has a year round tropical climate with the two seasons, the dry season is December to April, and the rainy season is May to November.
Our trip to Costa Rica in May 2002 was for our honeymoon…the start of our travels together. We picked Costa Rica for its climate and that Costa Rica was not as popular to travel to in 2002…we wanted to experience the rainforest and enjoy tranquility…we couldn’t have been more happy that we picked Costa Rica for our honeymoon. We loved it…Costa Ricans are friendly and hospitable.
We flew into Liberia airport (in 2002 it was a tiny airport), then jumped into a shuttle to Hotel El Ocotal (now Ocotal Beach Resort). Our adventures while in Costa Rica included:
- Boat Tour on a river in the rainforest
- Tour to Arenal Volcano and Hot Springs…awesome experience to see a volcano for the first time
- Scuba Dive…first time, this was an adventure…we thought we were good on the open ocean until the boat stopped (yikes) a little nauseous, but a good memory as I was able to see a small shark on the dive
- Zip Lining in the rainforest…this was a very cool experience. We learned that zip lining was first started for scientist to move around the rain forest to explore high up in the treetops…of course turned into a tourist experience. It was amazing to be high up in the treetops of the rainforest…the platforms appeared a little old but all part of the experience….and we ended the tour by seeing a scorpion.
We would love to go back to Costa Rica someday to further explore the beautiful country.
